Our Rector

I am the Revd Dallas Ayling Rector of the Priory Parish and here are a few things about me.

I came to work in the Priory Parish in 2002 first as Team Vicar and then in 2006 I became the Rector. Before that I served as Curate in the Ellesmere Port Team. I trained for the ordained ministry at Trinity College in Bristol and was ordained at Chester Cathedral in 1998. I have two adult children and two grandchildren.

I am also a trained Counsellor and have some training in Spiritual Direction. I was fortunate to train with some great people when I lived in Bristol. Spiritual Direction is really about accompanying someone on their journey of faith and helping individuals to discern God's voice in their lives.

When I have time for hobbies I enjoy the theatre, films and reading. I enjoy reading fiction but I also read to support my ministry. Holidays are important to me and in recent years I have enjoyed travelling abroad in search of the sun.

I enjoy watching athletics, usually from the armchair, although I was fortunate to attend the Commonwealth Games when it was staged in Manchester. I am looking forward to the Olympics coming to the UK in 2012 and my aim is to attend an athletics event. I enjoy anything which makes me laugh and I try not to take myself too seriously.

I was born and brought up in Guildford in Surrey and then I lived in Bristol for many years. I hung around churches from an early age and sang in church choirs for years. It was not until women could be ordained Deacons that I began to realise that God might just be calling me to be ordained. The journey was not easy nor straight forward but in the end it happened and I feel very privileged to serve God as a priest in the Church of England.

If you are reading this and want to know what it means to be a Christian then do email me. The details are on the contact page. Although I spent many years in the church singing in choirs it took time for my commitment to Jesus Christ to grow and to begin the journey of discipleship. But the question is: have you begun that journey? Why not join us for worship on a Sunday morning at 10.30 am at Christ the King or come and have fun at Messy Sunday.

I hope that you will return to this site and find out more about us as we develop it.
